Following the impact of Hurricane Florence, the first priority for first responders will be establishing contact with those within this Sheltering in Place registry. A Mandatory Evacuations has been issued for all areas of Shallotte in advance of Hurricane Florence.
Town officials issued the Mandatory Evacuation as a protective action to help save the lives of residents and first responders. Upon receiving the Mandatory Evacuation order, you should have decided to leave as quickly as possible.
Those who ignore Mandatory Evacuation orders should be prepared to be self-sufficient for the first 72 hours after a storm.
Utilities – electricity, water and phone service – could be damaged and unavailable for extended periods of time, and high winds and water could isolate those residents for long periods of time.
In addition, for safety reasons, public safety officials will have to suspend services in Mandatory Evacuation areas during the storm.
