Abstract Submission Form

Only submissions that have not been presented or published elsewhere will be accepted.
Your scientific abstract must contain:
  • A descriptive title, list of authors and institutions
  • An introduction/rationale/hypothesis to the study
  • The methods used
  • The results of the study including new data
  • Conclusions of the study
ALL ABSTRACTS NOT MEETING THESE MINIMUM CRITERIA WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
 
It is recommended that the abstract content be organized with the following headings:
  • Introduction/rationale
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusions 
Categories of Abstracts
 
The following abstract categories in the field of Critical Care Medicine are accepted:
  • Clinical research
  • Administrative research
  • Education
  • Epidemiology
  • Quality and Safety
  • Meta-analyses
  • Systematic reviews
  • Ethics

Case Reports

Interesting and unique case reports will be considered for presentation at the Critical care symposium.
 
Each abstract should describe only a single case report.
 
Case report abstracts must contain the following four components:
A descriptive title, list of authors and institutions
An introduction
A description of the actual case report
A discussion of the novelty and importance of the specific case

Abstract and Case Report Length
 
The total word count of an abstract may not exceed 400 words. Note: The 400-word count is for the abstract body (title, authors' information, institutions, tables, images and spaces between words will not count towards the 400-word count).
Table/Graph/Image
 
A maximum of 2 images can be included per abstract in JPG, JPEG, or GIF format only. The image will not count towards the 400-word count.
Redundancy
  1. Each abstract should have a distinctive hypothesis or include a unique methodology that is clearly differentiated from the other abstracts submitted by a single research group.
  2. An abstract that fails to meet these criteria will be considered a duplicate.
  3. Duplicate abstracts from a single research group will be rejected.
Research Funding Source
 
All abstracts must specify funding source: i.e., pharmaceutical firm name, grant name and source or other specific funding source. If you have no specific funding source, please indicate "none."
Authors
 
The person submitting the abstract will automatically be the Presenting Author. The Presenting Author will be listed first. The submitter (Presenting Author) is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors have agreed to be listed on the abstract and have knowledge of the abstract submission.
Accuracy:
 
Responsibility for accuracy rests with the Presenting Author.
Presentations
 
Abstracts and case reports should be submitted along with disclosures electronically at no later than March 23, 2025. Posters of submitted abstracts and case reports are to be displayed on April 4-5, 2025 at the 7th International Symposium on Advances in Critical Care Medicine (ISAC). 
 
Abstract Printed Poster Requirements:
All submitted abstracts should be printed to be posted for the duration of the 7th International Symposium on Advances in Critical Care Medicine (ISAC). Printed poster size should not exceed 36” height x 48” width and will be strictly enforced. You are welcome to use any company that you would like to print your poster that will be displayed at the symposium. You are responsible for the cost associated with poster printing. Additional logistics on displaying your poster and its removal will be sent closer to the Symposium date. 
Abbreviations:
 
When using abbreviations, spell the full name out on first mention and follow with the abbreviation in parentheses. Do not abbreviate compounds in the title of the abstract. Use of unfamiliar abbreviations may be grounds for rejection unless definitions are supplied in the abstract.
Abstract and case report grading criteria and awards: 
 
All the abstracts and case reports will be judged by anonymous judges who are experts in the field of critical care medicine. One winning submission will be chosen for Houston Methodist Critical Care Scientific Award. The judging criteria for abstract will be based on scientific merit, significance and impact of the study, approach to methodology, quality of data and analysis of results. Similarly, for case reports the criteria that will be used are description of context, relevance and importance of the case, inclusion of pertinent details, uniqueness and description of why this case report fits gap in literature. Award will be given only if the submissions meet these standards.
