Position Description:

The Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority, HRRA, is a regional, governmental, solid waste management and recycling authority serving fourteen municipalities in Western Connecticut. The HRRA is seeking a part-time educator and project coordinator for 20 hours a week.  This person would be responsible for teaching waste reduction and recycling education programs and managing special recycling projects throughout the 14 HRRA Municipalities.  Person should have an interest in the environment and comfortable teaching children and adults of all ages.  Must be able to carry and transport educational material and available at least two Saturdays a month.  The Recycling Coordinator will work with HRRA member towns to enhance education and outreach, improve proper recycling and increase quality of material.

 Principal Responsibilities:

Conducts education and publicity campaigns, promotions and special events to promote recycling programs.

Works with member town departments, businesses, institutions multi-family complexes and haulers to ensure compliance with recycling laws and other waste regulations and policies.

Develops, promotes and presents recycling programs; prepares and conducts presentations on various solid waste issues.

Fields calls and emails from the public.

Organizes and promotes food scrap diversion and composting activities and program.
Performs other related functions as assigned or required by the Executive Director.

Hours for this position: 20 hours per week: $25-$30 hour.
