The Council for Opportunity in Education's (COE)Opportunity Matters Book Club involves TRIO Program participants in a nationwide conversation about coming-of-age stories that deal with cultural identity and the sense of belonging. COE is inviting TRIO Programs to establish local Opportunity Matters Book Club chapters for an opportunity for students to discuss how their own experiences are portrayed in literature.
Conducting a Book Club
During the spring and summer of 2025, TRIO programs nationwide establish local book club chapters. These chapters may involve all or a subset of program participants who will read and meet regularly to discuss the book. The Council for Opportunity in Education will organize virtual discussions led by 3-5 nationally renowned individuals. Registered book clubs will have the chance to attend these virtual talks, providing an opportunity for students to engage in discussions about the important themes and ideas explored in the book.
