COE hosts a theme of sessions -- a Strand -- that are relevant and innovative to college access and success professionals.  If you are interested in your session being a part of one of our Strands, indicate this within your session description and by selecting below.  Please note, that your session does not have to fit into a Strand to be accepted.
This year COE will host the following Strands:

Leadership and PartnershipsThis strand provides content on leadership theory, activism, best practices for college access and success leadership, and collaborative partnerships between organizations, communities, and colleges/universities.

STEMThis strand provides content on S.T.E.M shorthand for science, technology, engineering, and math. STEM is an interdisciplinary approach to learning where academic concepts are coupled with real-world lessons as students apply science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in contexts that make connections between school, community, work, and the global enterprise.

Start Smart for New Professionals -This strand provides content needed for new professionals in college access and success programs. This content provides legislation and regulation training, grant writing and management techniques, TRIO History, networking, work-life balance techniques, teambuilding, and team cohesion.

IntersectionalityThis strand provides content on viewing college access and success services through a framework that attempts to identify how the interconnected nature of social categorizations such as race, class, sexual orientation, and gender as they apply to a given individual or group, regarded as creating overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination or disadvantage.

Research and Data TrackingThis strand provides content on data available for college access and success programs, ways to create an effective program evaluation plan, evaluating program components for high impact results, how to effectively obtain and use data, tracking students, and using data to increase retention and success.
