Registration is required for all students who are new or continuing in concert ensemble bands, marching band and colorguard.

REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Click HERE to review Parent Information Packet.

2. Complete this online pre-registration below which should take about 15 mins.

3. There is an option to donate online using PayPal (credit card). If you plan to donate with a check, please make the check out to "MBX Foundation" with the student name on the MEMO line. Credit card donation option (2.2%+$0.30 fee applies) will be available at the meeting.

4. For those in marching band and colorguard ONLY:

(1) Pre-Participation Physical Form is NO LONGER REQUIRED.

(2) Please print and sign Performers Commitment Contract (click HERE). This form needs to be sumitted at the parent meeting.

5. You will receive a confirmation email with Subject: MC Bands Online Pre-Registration Confirmation after submitting this online form. Print and bring it to the "Bandatory" Parent Meeting on June 6th at 6:30PM.

6. Jazz I students: If your student is auditioning for Jazz I and is not in any other band, please fill out this online form so we have the student emergency information on file. Concert Ensemble Attire Info & Volunteer Opportunities

CONCERT ATTIRE: The concert ensemble attire at MCHS is the same as the ones worn by the Symphonic Band students at MBMS. For those who wish to purchase the concert ensemble attire, a link to place a dress order will be emailed by October, and order & fitting for a tux will take place in October.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: We are asking for volunteer commitment from ALL Concert Ensemble families. Every band student is in a concert ensemble.

Please check the areas of interest. You will be contacted by a Volunteer Lead. Please refer to pages 12-14 of the Parent Packet for more detailed descriptions of the following volunteer opportunities. *

Concert Committee: supports one of the 4-5 concerts, usually held in December, February, March, and June. Volunteer needs include ticket sales at the auditorium, CD sales at the concert, refreshments, etc.

Banquet Committee- coordinates the annual Band Banquet usually held in June. Tasks include sending out invitations, ticket sales, senior survey, awards, etc.

Percussion Ensemble support- Tasks include supporting indoor percussion, percussion festival, percussion concert, etc.

Jazz Band support- Tasks include supporting Jazz Bands at competitions, events and concerts

Fundraising Committee- proposes, plans, and coordinates fundraisers throughout the year

Publicity Committee- provides band information to the MB/HB community, MCHS community, and band students/parents. Photographers are also needed to capture the marching band, concert ensemble, color guard, and other ensemble events.

Marching Band & ColorGuard Volunteer Opportunities

The Marching Band needs every family to volunteer! Last season, we had over 3,000 volunteer hours -- 40 volunteer hours per family! There are many ways to volunteer-- please view the video above to learn more about being a volunteer.

Bleacher Prep Crew- FREE entry to home games! Cover the bleachers where marching band members sit before the game, Uncover the bleachers and clean up the band area after the game

Candy Sales Crew- FREE entry to home games! sell candy at the candy sales booth at home football games

Pit Crew- FREE entry to home games! Home Game crew moves the front ensemble equipment to/from the field, Field Tournament crew loads/unloads the band equipment from the truck as well as push the equipment to/from performance sites, also need drivers to drive trucks to the field tournament

Uniform Crew- help with uniform fitting & hemming during summer, assist students with any uniform needs at home games and at field tournaments

Traffic Crew- FREE entry to home games! Control traffic as the marching band and equipment is moved to/from the stadium to keep the band members safe

Chaperones- Needed during Fall Training (Aug), Rehearsathons (Sat practices in fall), Away games, Home games, Field Tournaments, Festival and Parades. Responsible for providing first aids (ice packs, etc), keeping the students hydrated at tournaments, and student head count on busses

Summer Rehearsal Absences

The students who are in town are expected to attend summer rehearsals. If your student will be out of town, please indicate the rehearsal dates he/she will miss below:

6/18-20, 4-8PM (MiniCamp for ALL Band members)

7/5, 4-8PM-- Student will miss this rehearsal or be late

Mandatory Fall Training

IMPORTANT- From Mr. Carlson:
All marching band and colorguard families need to sign the Marching Band Contract. This contract is a commitment to marching band, understanding that when one chooses marching band, it comes with attendance responsibility that impacts all other members of the Band. The band's success depends on consistency, both as an individual and as a team.

The Fall Training Camp (8/6-10 & 8/13-18 from 12-8PM) is a mandatory prerequisite for membership in the Marching Band and Colorguard. Over a semester's worth of regular school year class hours are covered within the Fall Training Camp alone. Missing a single day is like missing a week and a half of school, resulting in the member falling significantly behind the ensemble. This is particularly unfair to the members who are at rehearsals and are progressing as a team. Please speak to Mr. Carlson if you have any questions.
