Throughout the year, DC-based volunteers welcome global leaders into their homes to share a meal, conversation, or even a cup of coffee – an activity that we call "Home Hospitality." These global leaders are participants of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), led by the U.S. Department of State which connects 5,000 global leaders with American counterparts each year. Nominated by U.S. Embassies, participants engage in exchanges that strengthen America's role on the world stage.
While the participants are primarily here for professional programming, home hospitality allows them to extend their program beyond office buildings and professional meetings to engage with U.S. families on a personal level. Home Hospitality is vital citizen diplomacy resource where volunteers invite international leaders into their homes for meals and conversation, fostering lasting connections that promote global collaboration and advance America's values of security and prosperity.
Join us in welcoming global leaders into your home! If you are interested in becoming a Home Host, please fill out this application. Requirements to be a host include residence in the DC metro area and ability to host at least two international participants at a time.
