Purpose of the ACCUPLACER Assessment Test
To be successful in college level courses, you must have strong skills in reading, writing and/or math. The ACCUPLACER assessment is used to determine your eligibility for program entry and what level of coursework you may begin with at the college. Students must meet the established test levels in order to qualify for certain classes. There is no time limit It is important to take your time and do your best on each section of the test. The assessment is computerized and is graded as you go. As a result, you may not go back to an earlier question once you have answered it. If the computer freezes or you see an error message, notify the proctor and your test will be re-opened.
No two test sessions are the same, so focus on your own computer monitor.
During the testing session
The only item(s) you may use on this assessment are paper and pencil which is provided for you by the test proctor. The use of ANY other items will be considered cheating and will be treated accordingly.
All personal possessions, including cell phones, calculators, musical devices, and other electronic devices MUST be turned off and placed in a locker, backpack, or purse before you test. If you are found with any of these items on your person during testing (regardless of whether or not you used them), it will be considered cheating and your test session will be stopped.
The only time you are allowed to use a calculator is if it is included as part of the question; you can click on the small calculator icon that will appear at the bottom of the screen. You may not use books, notes, or access other web sites or programs on the computer during your test. Attempts to use any unauthorized materials, any talking, or any behavior that makes it difficult for others to focus on their exams, will result in termination of your test.
Academic Honesty
The very nature of higher education requires that students adhere to accepted standards of academic integrity. Violation of academic integrity may be defined to include the following: cheating, plagiarism, falsification and fabrication, abuse of academic materials, complicity in academic dishonesty, and personal misrepresentation. It is the student’s responsibility to be aware of the behaviors that constitute academic dishonesty.
Any student caught or suspected of cheating will have their exam immediately terminated. All such cases will be referred for disciplinary action at Pueblo Community College. Repercussions of cheating may include prohibition from further assessment, suspension from college or inability to enroll in college classes and invalidation of test scores.
