Dorm Open House & Banquet
Assist deans & residents in cleaning the dorm for visitation, preparing food, and decorating for the meal.

Dorm Worship Leaders
Help present worship thoughts in the dormitories during weekdays and on weekends.

Parent Mentors
Work with the Dean to “adopt” a dorm student(s) (i.e. providing a home for out-of-state/country students over homeleave, etc.)

Sabbath Morning Breakfast
Prepare and serve breakfast to students living in dormitories each Sabbath morning.


Special Events



Descriptions

Fall/Spring Picnic
Assist the athletic department in organizing, refereeing events; help prepare meals for event participants; provide basic first aid needs.

Fall Festival
Help man booths, bake, cook, decorate, etc.

Supper Club
Plan menus, prepare food, provide entertainment, and decorate for these on-campus special dinners for students and staff.

Student Banquet Preparation
Help students with hair, make-up, apparel, etc.

Athletic Department/Hospitality
Assist with set up, clean up, concessions, greeting guests, etc. at home games.

Event Planning & Decorating
Plan, coordinate or help with decorating for various school events.

Baking/Cooking
Assist in baking, cooking, and/or providing food for various school events.

Audio/Visual
Set up and run AV equipment for school events.

Descriptions
Career Fair
Share information about your occupation with students in either group or one-on-one settings.

Tutoring
Provide students with additional help on homework and projects.

Library/Computer Lab Volunteers
Monitor and provide assistance to students in the library and computer lab in the evenings and on Sunday.

Field Trip Volunteers
Help chaperone various class and organization field trips (i.e. Choir, Bells, various classes, etc.).

College Visitation
Organize small group trips and take juniors/seniors to visit various colleges/universities during home leaves.

Volunteer Substitute Teachers
Serve as a substitute teacher when teachers attend seminars, are not feeling well, etc.

Club/Organizations Sponsors
Assist classroom teachers, club/organization sponsors in various capacities such as planning parties, field trips, fundraising, special events, and supervising meetings.

Musicians/Accompanists
Need sight-reading/play-by-ear accompanists to occasionally accompany the choir, gospel piano players, instrumentalists to play solos or play with band.


Community Relations



Descriptions
School Registration
Help direct parents to various locations on campus; assist faculty/staff in running registration stations; Help cafeteria prepare food for registrants and their families.

Campus Tours
Provide tours to prospective students and their families.

Academy Days
Promote interest through church announcements and word of mouth; provide transportation to MVA; help with registration and event planning.

Church Representatives/Liaisons
Receive and share communication between MVA and constituent churches.

Answering Phones
Answer phones in the dormitories after the main office has closed for the day or for the weekend.

Assist with data entry and design.


Campus Ministries

Spiritual Activities/Religious Programs
Assist with speaking for programs, provide transportation for outreach activities, participate in or identify community outreach opportunities, teach or mentor student teachers of the weekly Sabbath school lesson, etc.

Service Day Campus Help
Provide help answering phones, preparing meals for students, etc. so all student can participate in off-campus community service



Fundraising/Development



Description
Uniform Resale
Organize the selling and buying of used campus wear.

Fundraising/Development
Help create and implement fundraising ideas; assist the Development Director in preparing newsletters/mailings, writing articles, & making calls during phoneathons, etc.

Cafeteria Helpers
Help with regular daily and weekend food preparation and clean up.

Mini-Workshops
Volunteer to teach a mini-workshop to students about a personal skill/interest (i.e. change a tire, etiquette, etc.)

Grounds/Maintenance
Help keep the campus looking clean and keeping buildings safe for students and visitors.

Transportation - Bus Supervision/Drivers
Help supervise or transport student groups traveling to various destinations.

Sewing
Assist with various sewing needs: hemming, misc. repairs, clothing/dress adjustments, etc.

Weekend Supervision
Work with Administration to supervise students during various weekend events and activities.

Welcome Back Events
Focuses on showing teachers and staff support at the beginning of the school year; help set-up classrooms, clean campus, etc.
