Thank you for inquiring about CA State PIRC -1 Workshops!
Given the high volume of request across the state for the CA State PIRC -1 to provide Level 1 workshops to parents/families, the program is transitioning to a new system to maximize services to communities statewide. Through established and new collaborations with school districts, the CA State PIRC-1 will now provide trainings at a district wide level. This means that we are asking individual schools and school districts interested in our services for the following:
• Bring together various parents from different schools in the district to attend trainings, with a minimum attendance of 50-60 parents. This will maximize the outreach of our services and create strong networks of parents in that school district and community.
• Establish a centralized location where workshop(s) can be provided to accommodate the number of parents present. This location can vary to best meet the needs of the attendees and school/district resources available.
• Organize “parent training institutes” where program staff conducts at least two workshop sessions in one day. This will ensure parents receive a wider wealth of information. Times can vary to accommodate the needs of the attendees.
• Provide interpreters/translation when necessary. Program staff is skilled in providing workshops in English and/or Spanish.
• Pick workshops from the workshop request form.
PIRC Staff will provide:
• Trainers to conduct workshops
• Materials (agenda/PowerPoint/supplemental material/etc)
• Summaries of workshops for schools/district for outreach flyer to parents Example of “parent training institute” with Pomona Unified School District CA State PIRC-1 worked with PUSD to conduct 6 workshops in a course of three consecutive days, with 2 workshops per day (8:30-11:45am). The district provided: outreach to parents over 100 parents, venue, and AV needs. Program staff provided: trainers and training materials. This is just a sample, but we arewilling and available to accommodate to your needs.
We can better serve communities throughout California with the help of our partners and schoolrepresentative like you. Please feel free to call with any questions or comments, or fill out the workshop request form and we’ll contact you to set up a parent training institute in your district.
Thank you for your consideration.
