This historic 24.5 mile recreational trail links Champaign and Vermilion Counties in east central Illinois, from Urbana on the west to Kickapoo State Park on the east. The Champaign County Forest Preserve District and Vermilion County Conservation District will own and manage the portion of the trail within their respective counties.
 
Trail Features
The trail will traverse some of the most diverse ecosystems in this part of the state, including woodland, prairie, and wetland.
 
Trailheads will be developed near several communities along the route to provide parking and public access to the trail.
 
Scenic areas with benches and educational interpretive signs will offer rest stops for cyclists and hikers.

Donations for Kickapoo Rail Trail

Donations to the Kickapoo Rail Trail will be directed to the Forest Preserve Friends Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Donations are fully tax deductible.
