Descriptions of Delegate Committees
Committee 1: Shocking Statistics – Facts and figures of the Kansas FFA.
Focuses on encouraging male leadership, reaching out to the urban population, and growing diversity. Includes discussion on where we are, where we want to be, and how we can get there.
Committee 2: Supporting the advisor to encourage chapter growth - How can you help advisors learn the old and embrace the new?
Focuses on resources that can be made available and the students’ roles in involving the ag teacher on the chapter leadership team.
Committee 3: Growing Leaders – Encouraging members to step up and serve.
Focuses on implementing programs such as junior offices, committee chairmen, CDE leadership, and chapter leadership training.
Committee 4: Advisors: The Next Generation – Have you ever thought of who will be your chapter’s next advisor?
Encouraging students to become ag teachers. Addresses the shortage of ag teachers in 48 of the 50 states. Includes discussion on identifying members with strengths relating to a career in ag education and encouraging them to pursue a career in the profession.
Committee 5: Seamless Communication – Spreading the message from the national level to the local chapters.
Includes discussion on the use of social media, web presence, mail, and e-mail to help improve communication.
Committee 6: Diversity in Agriculture Careers – What careers are there and how do we educate students about these careers?
Focuses on what we can do within the classroom to encourage agricultural career paths and apply ag skills to potential non-traditional ag jobs.
Committee 7: Innovative Service Activities – Thinking beyond the typical.
Includes discussion on less traditional service activities, especially new ideas, and how we can implement those in our chapters and communities.
Committee 8: Reinventing SAEs– Supervised Agricultural Experience programs of the 21st century.
Focuses on encouraging members to embrace the diversity in SAE programs and begin a program that suits their interests. Includes discussion on how chapters can encourage SAE participation.
